SAN GIUSTO CASTLE

The well in the Piazzale delle Milizie in the Castle of San Giusto in Trieste was built around 1700, a simple and rigorous structure in sandstone.

The design of the new roofing follows three principles: utility, solidity and aesthetics; not only inspired by Vitruvian memory. In harmony with the octagonal base, a cor-ten steel structure was designed with a central ring, on which segments of shatterproof glass were fixed. The eight segments are silk-screened with the distances in kilometers of the main cities involved in the culture and history of Trieste.
